About this Event
Bring your favorite analog hobby and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the Kogod Courtyard. Need inspiration? Think needlepoint, knitting, sketching, watercolor, junk journaling, mahjong, and more. Each Analog Night will feature a spotlight activity inspired by the Portrait Gallery’s collection. Come solo or with friends! For ages 18+.
Spotlight Activities
September 8th: Back-to-School Throwback
It's back-to-school season! Make a friendship bracelet (and maybe even a friend!) while learning about famous and not-so-famous friendships in the Portrait Gallery's collection.
October 13th: Analog Media Swap & Zine-Making
Bring your gently used physical media and swap it for something new! Ideas include CDs, vinyl, cassette tapes, VHS tapes, DVDs, books, magazines, zines, comics, games, and more. Then, make a zine inspired by the Portrait Gallery’s collection.
November 17th: Salsa like Celia Cruz with Baila DC
Get inspired by the Queen of Salsa! Join us for a lively salsa social with Baila DC. We will start with a beginner-friendly salsa lesson, followed by open social dancing. Don’t miss Celia Cruz’s portrait on the second floor in our new exhibition .
Note: Visitors are not allowed to bring scissors, knives, and other sharp tools into the museum. NPG staff will provide scissors upon request.
