ROOTED- II: Poetry and Painting Under the Redwoods

Sunday, July 19th, 12 noon- 5 pm, Joaquin Miller Park, Oakland, CA. $150
This is a special and potent time to gather around the beauty of teh redwoods, the wisdom of our ancestors, poetry, and the spirit of the land — and to deepen our roots through creativity, reflection, and community.
As an Iranian-American artist and facilitator, I offer this workshop to honor and share the depth, resilience, beauty, and soul of Persian culture, as well as other cultures and heart practices that root us and sustain us, through art, poetry, movement, and presence.
Held beneath the shelter of the redwoods, we will slow down together and enter a creative and restorative space, feeling into our “Rooted” souls.
Through guided meditation, music, gentle movement, reflective writing, poetry, and intuitive painting, participants will be invited to explore:
• What roots us
• What nourishes us
• What we carry from our ancestors, cultures, and inner lives
• What wants to emerge through color, shape, words, and intuition
No painting or writing experience is needed. This is not about artistic technique or performance, but about presence, creative expression, and reconnecting with ourselves and one another.
The workshop is open to people of all backgrounds. Persian poetry and themes will be woven into the experience in an accessible and universal way, inviting connection through beauty, longing, resilience, love, and belonging.
All painting materials provided.
Come to breathe beneath the trees.
Come to listen inward.
Come to paint, write, move, and remember your roots.
