ROMCA: Orthodox Choral Masterpieces

An evening of sacred choral music, as ROMCA returns to Brisbane after its 10th anniversary concert at the Sydney Opera House.
About this Event

The Russian Orthodox Male Choir of Australia (ROMCA) returns to Brisbane following its 10th anniversary concert at the Sydney Opera House in September 2026.

Established in 2016 under Musical Director Nektary Kotlaroff, ROMCA has grown into one of the world’s most distinctive and widely celebrated vocal ensembles - a national choir with a global voice, bringing together Australian-born singers of Russian heritage from capital cities across the country. Renowned for its depth, resonance and extraordinary vocal range, the multi-award-winning ensemble blends soaring high tenors, warm baritones and thunderous basso profundo oktavists into a sound of rare power, recognised on stages throughout Australia, Europe and the USA.

The Brisbane program is devoted entirely to sacred music, tracing the Orthodox choral tradition across cultures - from Byzantine chant, through to polyphonic Russian and Serbian hymns, each with its own distinctive character and voice.
