Step back in time and unleash your inner artisan at our woodworking workshop during the 2024 Malton Museum Roman Festival, held in honour of the great artisan god Hephaestus!Join skilled craftsmen roleplaying as captured tribesmen, eager to share their ancient woodworking secrets. Under the watchful eyes of these knowledgeable guides, learn to shape and carve wood using authentic tools and techniques that have stood the test of time.

Whether you're a seasoned woodworker or a curious beginner, this hands-on workshop offers a unique opportunity to create your own Roman-inspired masterpiece. Immerse yourself in history, hone your skills, and take home a piece of the past!
Our corner will be open for the duration of the festival (11am-4pm), booking a slot will allow you access to the materials and our guidance for the whole 5 hours. You will be free to leave and come back as much as you like, and take your time with your creation.

We do not enforce age limits, however if we do not feel you are safe with the tools provided we reserve the right to stop your session or alter it to be more suitable, if possible. All children under 16 must be supervised by a legal guardian.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THERE IS AN ENTRY FEE TO THE ROMAN FESTIVAL
Our booking is separate to this fee and goes directly to us, we do not receive any payment from Malton Museum for putting the workshop on. Prices are per person.
