Rocking with Joel! An Afternoon with Music Journalist Joel Selvin

Legendary San Francisco Chronicle music critic/journalist Joel Selvin will be appearing for a free author event at the Downtown Library on Saturday, March 8 at 3:00 p.m.

Mr. Selvin's weekly column in the Chronicle ran from 1972 to 2009. He has written more than 20 books covering various aspects of pop/rock music including Hollywood Eden: Electric Guitars, Fast Cars, and the Myth of the California Paradise, Sly & the Family Stone: An Oral History, and Altamont: The Rolling Stones, the Hells Angels, and the Inside Story of Rock's Darkest Day.

Mr. Selvin has published articles in Rolling Stone, the Los Angeles Times, Billboard, and Melody Maker and written liner notes for dozens of recorded albums and appeared in countless documentaries. Last month, Mr. Selvin interviewed Cher in front of a live audience as part of BroadwaySF.

Local bookstore Books on B will be present for a book sale and signing following the event. Parking is free right next the library or take BART to the Hayward Station, a five-minutes walk away.
