10:30 – Conner Stafford, “Wyoming Jade”
Conner Stafford is a geology student at the University of Wyoming with a focus on mineralogy, mineral prospecting, and lapidary materials. His work centers on Wyoming Jade, combining geological context with hands-on experience to examine its formation, material properties, and distinctions from other jade varieties.
11:30 – Zachary Tenney, “The Late Cretaceous of Wyoming”
Having grown up in Casper, Wyoming, and as a third-generation geologist, Zach had an interest in the geologic history of Wyoming from an early age. He graduated from Casper College with associate's degrees in geology and geographic information systems in 2021 and 2022, respectively, emphasizing paleontological and stratigraphic fieldwork. Zach transferred to the University of Wyoming and earned a bachelor's degree in geology in 2024 and is currently wrapping up work on his master’s which has been focused on Late Cretaceous stratigraphy and paleontology around Casper.
12:30 – Russell Hawley, “Rocks of Alcova”
This talk will provide a brief overview of the different rock formations that can be found in the Alcova area. Russell is the Education Specialist at the Tate Geological Museum, where he gives tours, produces artwork for museum displays, and contributes a question-and-answer column to the newsletter. Russell illustrated Islands in the Cosmos: The Evolution of Life on Land by Paleontologist Dr. Dale Russell.
1:30 – Karl Osvald, “Deep Time in the Cowboy State: Some of Wyoming’s Top Vertebrate Paleo Finds, Developments, and Research Results in 2025”
Wyoming continues to be a global source for vertebrate paleontological discovery, and 2025 proved to be a landmark year. This presentation will explore the most significant research developments from the past twelve months, headlined by the discovery of the "Mummy Zone" near Lusk, a site offering unprecedented soft-tissue preservation of Edmontosaurus specimens.
