Did you ever wonder about the “deep history” of what is under your feet and in your view? Northampton and vicinity are located in one of the best places in the world to study geology!GCC Prof. Emeritus Richard Little will take you through the amazing events that shape Northampton and surroundings, from colliding tectonic plates to Lake Hitchcock. You will even see and touch the rare Jurassic Armored Mud Balls, geologic features that may become our official State Sedimentary Structure (bills S2115 and H3438 are being considered in the Legislature).
Following the talk there will be a brief field trip around the Forbes. What stories from the geological past can be discovered in the building’s “rock library”?
