About this Event
Roberta Pucci, an Atelierista and Art Therapist, with lifelong roots in Reggio Emilia, Italy will have you explore the “Grammar of Matter” through the notion of the "Everywhere Atelier: Investigating how to support children's creative and meaningful relationships with the world," accompanied by a practical workshop.
Here is what she says:
Every material has got a set of specific characteristics and qualities resulting from its nature, that defines its limits and potential, as well as its range of possible transformations. It is what I call a kind of “natural grammar”, meaning some inner rules that can be empirically investigated.
We will explore together the grammar of some materials, in order to build meaningful interactions and relationships with the physical world around us. There’s no need to be an artist: the creative process belongs to our nature as human beings!
We will try to learn how to:
· discover the “grammar” and the full potential of each material, looking at it with new eyes
· transform a material according to its identity
· make more intentional choices when offering materials to others
Roberta has been working for many years in Reggio Emilia as Atelierista for Early Learning Centers, with the Reggio Children Foundation and the Loris Malaguzzi Center. She loves graphic design and she has recently published two books about the language of drawing (Artebambini Ed). She currently works as a consultant and trainer for educational professionals, also by leading Everywhere Atelier study groups. Through interconnected experiences of the Reggio Approach, art therapy, and design thinking, she aims to support human beings in developing their unique create potential.
The day begins at 9am and finishes at 4pm. Morning coffee and lunch will be included. Professional Development Certificates will be available. Paid parking is available onsite. Consider taking public transit to SFU's Burnaby campus.
