After exploring world music from more than 30 countries in seven languages for over 3 decades, Robert takes this opportunity to go down a different path and showcase his original compositions spanning over 25 years of his music career.
Robert Everest has been joyfully exploring music from across the globe for over 30 years. Besides having produced or co-produced 6 of his own CDs, he has recorded with Connie Evingson, toured with Lorie Line, and opened for Sir James Galway, Badi Assad, and Eddie Palmieri. His musical tours have taken him to performances in Madrid, Florence, Budapest, Paris, and many other international destinations. Local performance venues include the Fitzgerald Theater, Orchestra Hall, the MN State Fair International Bazaar, the Dakota Jazz Club, and of course Crooners. He has also been featured on KBEM and MPR radio, as well as KARE11, WCCO and KSTP Television.
On this recording Robert played guitar, mandolin, piano, pan flutes, cavaquinho (a tiny steel string Brazilian guitar similar to the ukulele), bass guitar, several percussion instruments, and sang in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian. Obviously he can't do all of that in a live setting, so he has enlisted some of the Twin Cities' finest musicians to join him for this release concert. The songs featured touch on themes like the passing of his mother, parenting challenges, confusion in relationships, gratitude, and time spent living abroad. Even though he started composing music and writing lyrics at age 15, and has amassed hundreds of original songs, these creations have been largely eclipsed by his passion for world music. This is a wonderful opportunity to get a glimpse of Robert's more private struggles and adventures of life, beautifully captured in music.
