Important Information:
- If you do not check in by the Check in time, you will not be able to play.
- We will supply boards and pieces. We do not have enough clocks for everyone, so please make sure to download a chess clock app on your phone before you arrive.
- Touch Move: Once a piece is touched with intent to move, that piece must be moved and if moving that piece would be illegal, then this counts as an illegal move.
- Illegal Moves: If a player makes an illegal move and the opposing player does not declare it before moving and pressing their clock, the illegal move stands and is un-penalized. If the opposing player declares it before moving and pressing their clock, the guilty player (who made the illegal move) loses.
- Draws: It is not necessary to write down your moves. Therefore, there is no 50-move draw, or three-fold repetition draw.
- Check: No need to call check.
- Etiquette: Please do not use phones/laptops/smart watches
- Please be quiet during games. Mind your own table and do not interfere with other games in progress.
Keep in mind that this tournament is designed to foster a fun, enjoyable environment and build community connections. While we adhere to USCF chess rules as closely as possible, the Tournament Director and his team may make exceptions to ensure a pleasant experience for all participants.
