RIBO Update & Industry Insights

The Peterborough Insurance Brokers Association welcomes Mark Abraham and Melissa Bajwa to the Miskin Law Community Complex on April 28, 2026. Mark and Melissa will provide an executive-level update on the latest developments at the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO).

Together, they will outline:

• RIBO‘s strategic direction
• Highlight current organizational priorities – including Auto Reform
• Share insights into trends observed through licensing, spot check programs, complaints, and recent disciplinary decisions.

Following the presentation, Mark and Melissa will open the floor for an interactive Audience Q&A, providing attendees the opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and discuss issues shaping the future of insurance brokerage in Ontario.

Mark Abraham - CEO, Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO)

Mark Abraham leads RIBO’s mandate to protect consumers and strengthen professionalism across Ontario’s insurance brokerage sector. He is currently guiding the organization through a period of strategic renewal, focused on modernizing regulation, enhancing broker competency, and building public trust.

With decades of senior leadership experience, Mark brings a strong focus on operational excellence, compliance, and innovation. His work at RIBO includes advancing licensing and education, strengthening oversight, and driving digital transformation to better support both brokers and the public.

Mark holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.

Melissa Bajwa - RIBO Council President

Melissa Bajwa is a respected industry leader with over 20 years of experience supporting brokerage operations, developing teams, and navigating regulatory change. Known for her practical leadership and commitment to excellence, she brings a strong voice to the broker distribution channel.

She currently serves as Regional Managing Director at Acera Insurance and as President of the RIBO Council. Throughout her career, she has held senior leadership roles at PROLINK Insurance and began her journey as a frontline broker with TD Insurance Meloche Monnex.

Melissa is a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and has been recognized as a 2023 Insurance Business Canada Women of Distinction and a 2024 Global 100 honouree.
