About this Event
About the Tour:
Campfield, the Upper Hall, is a Grade II Listed Building. Campfield site includes the Upper and Lower Campfiled Market Halls, designed by Mangnall and Littlewood, built in 1878, to be used as fresh produced markets, open to the public. The two buildings, non-identical, are of the 'industrial vernacular architectural style, reflecting Manchester's industrial heritage. They were located either side of St Mathew's church (demolished in 1951). Over the decades, the Upper Hall, was used for exhibitions for modern lifestyle displays, as an indoor park, etc. Most recently as the Manchester Air and Space Museum, before its closure in 2020. In 2025, the Upper Hall was restored and transformed into a technology hub for creative industries and innovation on weekdays and a social space for markets on weekends. The visit will be kindly led by the Interior Architect of the project, Atul Bansal, Partner at Sheila Bird Studio. Atul will give an insight of the challenges and opportunities that this project has offered and their collaboration with the project Architect, Project 3 and the developer Allied London.
The tour is fully accessible, if you have any requirements please email [email protected].
