About this Event
Calling all sole practitioners and architects working in small practices! Join us at Ibstock, at 54 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8HN for this discussion followed by a Q & A and a networking session.
The focus will be the use of the RIBA Domestic Building Contract as well as comparison with other building contracts that may be used in small to medium size residential projects.
The event will run as follows:
5.30pm – Arrival
6pm – There will be a brief introduction by Jo Edwards
6.15pm – Sarah Lupton & Manos Stellakis will speak about different types of domestic contracts.
7pm – A Q&A session will take place for 15 minutes (panel Sarah Lupton, Manos Stellakis and Steve Cross)
7.15pm- Food will be served and an opportunity for networking with refreshments will occur.
8pm- Close.
Professor Sarah Lupton MA DipArch LLM FCIArb CArb RIBA, holds a personal chair at Welsh School of Architecture and is a partner in Lupton Stellakis. She lectures widely on subjects relating to construction law, has been external examiner at several institutions, and acts as arbitrator, adjudicator and expert witness in construction disputes. Sarah represents the RIBA on the JCT Drafting Sub-Committee and the JCT Consultants College and is a member of the RIBA Professional Services Contracts editorial group. She is an Honorary Affiliate Member of the Construction Industry Council, a member of the CIC’s Liability Panel (and past chair). Sarah is the author of many books, including a series on the JCT and RIBA standard form building contracts and the fifth edition of Cornes and Lupton’s Design Liability in Construction. Sarah is co-author (with Manos Stellakis) of ‘Which Contract?’, and of series of books on the use of performance specification, and on legislative controls. Sarah is co-authoring with Manos Stellakis Understanding Professional Services Contracts.
Manos Stellakis BSc DipArch MSc(Econ) RIBA RIAS, is a partner in Lupton Stellakis and teaches and examines at a number of schools of architecture. Manos has held a number of academic appointments including visiting course co-coordinator at the Bartlett, Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the WSA and is the External Examiner for Queens University Belfast’s PGC Professional Practice in Architecture and for the Architects' Professional Examination Authority in Scotland. He has been a member of a number of RIBA and Construction Industry Committees. Manos has co-authored a number of books and papers with Sarah Lupton including Which Contract 6th ed, Performance Specification: an analysis of trends and development of a conceptual framework, Performance Specification: a guide to its preparation and use, Through the Legislation Maze: Energy Conservation, and Through the Legislation Maze: Health and Safety all published by RIBA Publications. Manos is co-authoring with Sarah Lupton four Guides on JCT 2024 contracts
