These are some of the dangerous people your governments are negotiating with. These are the same people they expect ordinary citizens to settle with. Meanwhile, everyday Nigerians watch in fear as insecurity grows and leaders keep acting as if everything is normal. It’s heartbreaking that people causing chaos seem to operate freely, while innocent families continue to suffer.
Nigeria has reached a point where criminals appear to have more influence than the very people chosen to protect the nation. Graduates are roaming the streets with certificates in hand, searching for jobs that pay barely enough, while those destabilizing communities profit from the system. Our leaders speak, but their words carry no weight, just empty promises floating in the air.
Some people try to distance religion from those involved, yet those same individuals misuse sacred words to commit violence. That alone should be enough for every believer Muslim, Christian or otherwise, to condemn such actions. Any act of violence done under the name of faith is a disgrace to that faith, and silence only deepens the wound.
As we approach 2027, Nigerians must open their eyes. Politicians will soon pretend to fix everything. Suddenly, security may improve, not because they care, but because elections are coming. The calm will be a performance, a strategy to make us believe they’ve been working all along. And then on election day, they will offer a few thousand naira as though our lives, our safety, and our future can be bought.
But the cost of accepting that money could haunt us long after the election is over. We must choose leaders who value human lives more than political gain. We must refuse to reward those who allowed insecurity to thrive. Every vote in 2027 will either continue the cycle or break it.
Nigeria deserves better. Nigerians deserve peace, safety, dignity, and true leadership, not temporary solutions and political games. The time to demand real change is now. Share this
