About The Event
Join us to hear from a fantastic line up of speakers, meet others who are working for similar goals, and find knowledge and inspiration while working for ecological health and community wellbeing.
Organised by the Irish Environmental Network & CELT, with support from Galway County PPN, Galway City PPN, and Clare PPN we are delighted to invite you to explore community wealth and capacity building with us.
Learn about the Wellbeing Economy with Roisin Markum of FEASTA. How do we achieve an economy that is designed to serve people and the planet, not the other way around? Rather than treating economic growth as an end in and of itself and pursuing it at all costs, a Wellbeing Economy puts our human and planetary needs at the centre of its activities, ensuring that these needs are all equally met, by default.
Explore how we can become good ancestors with Dr Peter Doran, Senior Lecturer in the School of Law, Queens University Belfast, including rights of nature & Seeding the Future film screening
Discover how to reach new audiences. Starting conversations on new topics can be challenging especially when the subject matter is difficult to explain or contentious. Learn from those who have successfully started and made progress with difficult conversations in their community, including artist Lisa Fingelton of Brilliant Ballybunion, the Uí Máine Kingdom Group working in the karst region of South Roscommon.
Hear about the Nature Restoration Law (NRL) from Niamh Roche of Bat Conservation Ireland - what is the NRL and what is the process for it's implementation.
Hear about local food policy with Fergal Anderson of Talamh Beo, and about how Clare Public Participation Network created their plans and visions for Clare including a wide range of voices from the county.
We will end the day with a guided nature walk around the grounds of the Burren Nature Sanctuary, giving time to soak in our beautiful surroundings and to talk to each other along the walk.
Lunch and refreshments included throughout the day.
