Join us for an evening of debate at Coláiste Iognáid (The Jes) in the Debating Society's celebratory event on April 25, 2026 at 6:00 PM.

The motion to be debated: This House Would Say Anything. It's that archetypal debate motion on the limits (or not) of speech. In this age of unrestricted social media, popularism and 'my truth', it's an important issue!

Which speakers do you remember from your time at the Jes?

Eight guest debaters from decades of Jes debating will face off against each other for this event. Whether you are a debater at the school now, an ex-debater, or an alumni looking for an excuse to meet up, then this event is for you.

In the questions section of this eventbrite listing, please indicate whether you would be willing to speak as one of the eight debaters. Indicate your prefered side of the debate.

Donations (suggestions 5 euro) at the door to offset costs. Any remainder monies to Coláiste Iognáid debating society for ICYD/International Senior/MUN costs.
