RESTORE: In the Presence of Horses
About this Event
RESTORE: In the Company of Horses
An embodied journey of awareness, connection & sound
What happens when you slow down enough to notice what is happening within you — before automatically reacting to what is happening around you?
Join A Unified Mind and Long Run Stables for a unique, nature-based experience exploring the RESTORE Method™ through intentional connection with horses, embodied awareness, and immersive sound.
Horses live in relationship with their environment. They communicate through movement, proximity, posture, attention, boundaries, and subtle shifts in behavior. Spending time in their presence gives us an opportunity to slow down, pay attention, and become curious about our own responses.
What do I notice when a horse approaches me?
What happens inside me when it moves away?
Do I rush toward connection? Hang back? Try to do things “right”? Become uncertain when I don't know what is expected of me?
And what changes when I don't have to accomplish anything at all?
This is where RESTORE begins.
The RESTORE Method™
RESTORE is an embodied framework for developing greater awareness, choice, and connection:
R — Recognize
Notice what is happening within you and around you.
E — Engage
Stay present and curious about your experience.
S — Slow
Create enough space to interrupt automatic reactions.
T — Trust
Listen to the information your body and experience are giving you.
O — Orient
Come back to what is actually happening here and now.
R — Reconnect
Return to yourself, your environment, and relationship.
E — Embody
Allow awareness to inform how you move forward.
The goal isn't to make yourself calm or to have the “right” response.
The practice is learning to recognize what is happening, stay connected to yourself, and create more choice in how you respond.
The Equine Experience
With guidance from experienced staff, you'll have opportunities to observe the herd, learn about horse communication and body language, and engage in safe, intentional interactions with the horses.
Experiences may include observing the herd, connecting without force, grooming, sensory awareness, and simply spending time in relationship with a horse without needing to accomplish a particular task.
Throughout these experiences, RESTORE facilitators will guide you in noticing your own sensations, thoughts, emotions, impulses, boundaries, and patterns of connection.
There is no requirement to ride a horse, and this workshop does not include horseback riding.
You also won't be required to touch or interact directly with a horse., although you will definitely have that option. Observing, waiting, stepping back, or choosing not to engage can be meaningful parts of the experience.
There is no “right way” to participate.
From Experience to Integration
After our time with the horses, we'll transition from doing and exploring into simply noticing and receiving.
You'll be invited to get comfortable for a 45-minute immersive sound meditation using gongs, singing bowls, and other therapeutic sound instruments.
Rather than being a separate activity, sound becomes part of the RESTORE experience — an opportunity to rest, notice sensation, and allow what you've experienced during the afternoon to settle and integrate.
We'll finish our time together with light snacks, refreshments, and a relaxed closing conversation, giving everyone space to reflect, reconnect, and transition gently back into the rest of their day.
What to Expect
This approximately four-hour experience includes:

• Facilitated interaction and grooming with horses
• Opportunities for personal reflection and connection
• 45-minute immersive sound meditation

What to Bring
Please dress comfortably and appropriately for spending time outdoors and around horses. Closed-toe shoes are required/recommended for the equine portion of the experience.
For the sound meditation, bring any comfort items that will help you relax, such as a yoga mat, blanket, pillow, eye covering, or water bottle. [Edit this section if mats/blankets will be provided.]
This experience will take place on a working farm, so please plan for weather, uneven ground, animals, and the wonderfully imperfect realities of being outdoors.
