Residency Collection Launch with Imogen Morris

Join us for the first official view of Imogen Morris' residency collection. Created during her artist residency at the Bankside Hotel from July to September 2026, this exclusive collection embodies her unique experience in the space and the development of her practice. At the collection launch, attendees will have the chance to view all of the completed artworks for the very first time and hear from Imogen about her experience in residence.

About Imogen:

Imogen Morris is a contemporary artist working with hand-stitched thread to create striking portraits of faces and animals. After completing a First Class degree in Fine Art and Art History (BA Hons) at Kingston University, she spent several years working in the community arts and voluntary sector before returning to her own artistic practice three years ago.

Inspired by traditional hand embroidery, Imogen’s work brings a contemporary approach to threadwork. Her process involves wrapping thread around carefully placed nails that map the contours of her subjects, gradually building a mesh-like structure of geometric triangles. Layer by layer, these threads create depth, texture, and intricate detail. Her work balances strength and fragility: the bold, angular forms of the portraits contrast with the delicate nature of the thread, capturing subtle movement and character within each subject.
