Join us for a therapeutic journalling workshop where we explore reparenting ourselves through writing and guided self-reflection.
About this Event

Right from birth, we internalise narratives, both helpful and unhelpful, without our conscious consent. But for those of us with emotionally immature/unavailable parents, these narratives are largely detrimental to our sense of wellbeing. Led by a neurodivergent counsellor who is herself a childhood narcissistic abuse survivor, this therapeutic journalling workshop offers insight and prompts to help bring to surface, process, and heal these narratives that for most have operated beneath our conscious awareness for all our lives. Meet like-minded souls and find safe community, where you can share about your journeys in a safe, trauma-informed, and neurodivergent-friendly communal space.

We will begin with a short grounding meditation, followed by a 15-minute presentation introducing the facilitator and providing some information about the impacts of parental emotional unavailability and abuse. Some nervous system regulation tools will also be provided. This is shared with the aim of raising awareness and offering validation to often stigmatised survivors of invisible scars, utilising scientific research under a spiritual and decolonial lens. This will be followed by a short break, followed by a 30-minute journalling exercise. We will finish off with a sharing session and closing meditation. Please bring along a pen and some paper.

This in-person event will take place in The Room at the top floor of Hanover Community Centre. Hot tea and light snacks will be provided. Limited spots and tiered pricing available, so book your place now! Please do refer to the attached Green Bottle graphic below. The venue is unfortunately not wheelchair-accessible; an online version of this workshop will be held on Wednesday, 8th October 2025 2PM BST.

This event is held by Violette Leong, a late-diagnosed AuDHD spiritual counsellor, intuitive healer, and C-PTSD advocate/survivor based in Brighton, UK. As a narcissistic abuse survivor with a first-class psychology degree who did her thesis on adult survivors with adverse childhoods, sheโ€™s deeply passionate about raising awareness about psychological abuse and complex trauma, and helping survivors heal through a variety of tools combining both mainstream psychological research (with a decolonial lens!) and spiritual healing modalities. She hopes to destigmatise discussions around the deep yet often unseen and therefore misunderstood wounds of growing up as an emotional orphan so as to facilitate both individual and collective healing. More info can be found on her website: https://linktr.ee/andromedanfae.

Violette is a queer and disabled woman of colour who hopes to bring her unique experiences together to champion the voices of diverse minorities, and is in the midst of seeking financial independence from abusive family. If youโ€™d like to donate and support her work, please do so at https://ko-fi.com/andromedanfae. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’œ
