This coming Sunday (9th November) is Remembrance Sunday and, as usual, we will hold a brief act of remembrance, with the last post (thanks Jenny Harkness) and two minutes silence, at the crossroads at 11am. There will also be a short service in church starting at 10.30am. All are welcome to either or both events.
Our nation seems very pessimistic at present, with worries about the economy, knife crime and threats from abroad, so it is perhaps timely to remember how lucky we are compared to those who lived here during the two world wars, not just the six men associated with Leavening who gave their lives, but also all the others who suffered the deprivations and uncertainties of those times, whether in the armed forces or in the civilian population.
