Remembering the Vital Role of Women in World War 2 Our annual keynote lecture to mark Armistice Day.
During WW2 women were conscripted into the armed forces for the first time whilst others took on a diverse range of roles on the Home Front. For Armistice Day 2024 we will remember the essential contribution of women at this time as spies, pilots, munitions workers, land girls, lumberjills and many more. The list is endless!
Linda McDonald is a former teacher and a member of Edinburgh Living History, based in Lauriston Castle. She has in interest in researching women’s history.
All our lecture mornings cost £8 and include a friendly lecture where you can meet our guest lecturer, have coffee and a sweet treat and get a special castle tour. Why not make a day of it at Lauriston and have some lunch at Mimi’s café on-site after your lecture experience?
