Highlighting the cost of war, with a focus on children & young people : share poems & songs + walk to the Peace Tree in Princes St GardensAbout this Event
Join us for an Alternative Remembrance Event at 1:30pm Sunday 10 November at the Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2JL. Bring and share your reflections, poems and join in songs led by Protest in Harmony. Our theme this year is Children and Young People.

At around 2.15pm we shall set off for the Peace Tree - site of the planned Opposing War Memorial in Princes St Gardens - where we shall hold a minute's silence.
We shall lay a wreath in memory of all those killed in wars - civilians, soldiers executed as “deserters” for refusing to continue to participate, as well as soldiers killed, and conscientious objectors who refused conscription.
EXTRA: All are welcome to join the Quaker Meeting for Worship at 11am - and share in a simple bowl of soup together - before we start the session.
Proposed Timetable
- 11.00am Quaker Meeting for Worship followed by home made soup at 12.15pm - optional
1.30pm Gather in the Meeting House, for poems and songs with Protest in Harmony
- 2.15pm Walk to the Peace Tree in West Princes St Gardens to lay wreaths
- 3.00pm Close
