About this Event
Perkins Woods, a city park now largely compromised of the Akron Zoo, was a place where African-Americans in Akron made local history through the changes and challenges of the 20th century.
Discover how a monument to John Brown, a fight to keep the zoo in Perkins Woods, and a custard stand at the edge of the park were ways that African Americans in Akron affirmed community and made a lasting impact on the city.
