About this Event

Remember Me: Musing on Birds, Tulsa Artist Zia Daugherty’s First Solo Exhibition Opens October 3 at Positive Space

Remember Me: Musing on Birds, by Zia Daugherty, is a collection of original artwork exploring themes of environmental vulnerability and the value of life, using birds as a visual through-line. “Many different ideas and emotions come up as I think about the subject matter of my art, such as environmental change, extinction, and our role in it all. I have begun categorizing these musings into specific art pieces as a way to process what can sometimes feel too big for me to put into words,” says Daugherty.

This exhibition invites the public to create a space for dialogue and ask: What is nature? What is our past, present, and future relationship with life on this planet? And which lives do we adhere value to and why?

About the Artist: Zia Daugherty is a visual artist residing in Tulsa, OK, specializing in oils and mixed media and inspired by the beauty of birds and native ecosystems. Zia also works as a decorative painter and art restorationist, demonstrating her versatility across various mediums including plaster, concrete, wood, and gold leaf.
