About this Event
Join us for a conversation on "Religion in Diaspora: Africa-Inspired Religious Traditions in Cuba." Dr. Shanti explores religion produced in diaspora and offers an overview of two Africa-inspired religious traditions of Cuba, how they developed as part of a larger African Diaspora, and some dynamic attributes of their practice that support Cuban communities of African descent.
About Dr. Shanti:
Dr. Shanti Zaid works at Denver's Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library, producing public historical programming on the Black experience in the Rocky Mountain West. He has a background in university teaching and international research on African Diaspora religions, and earned doctorate degrees in African American & African Studies and Cultural Anthropology from Michigan State University.
