Reiki is a form of energy work developed in Japan. It focuses on harmonizing energy by creating balance across physical, emotional, and energetic layers. Reiki offers a direct path toward balance, connection, and healing.

This Reiki I training is an invitation to create intentional space for care—for yourself and for your community. Together, we’ll explore how Reiki can be both a personal healing practice and a collective offering in turbulent times.

Alongside the practical components of hands-on healing, we’ll discuss the cultural, political, and ethical dimensions of healing work. This includes examining Reiki’s complex history, practicing with ongoing and nuanced consent, and grounding our work in a commitment to collective liberation—without spiritual bypassing.

What is Reiki?

We can think of our energy as a river flowing through the body. Naturally, that river moves with ease, but over time debris or dams—whether emotional, physical, or energetic—can disrupt its path. Reiki helps restore the river’s natural flow. It is not about giving or taking personal energy; instead, it works with universal life force energy, which flows where it’s needed most. We’ll explore how to sense ki (energy) in our own bodies and in others.

What happens in a Reiki training?

During this training, you’ll receive four attunements, which allow you to connect with universal energy. You’ll learn a series of hand placements to guide your sessions, and over time, you’ll develop intuitive approaches and explore a range of perspectives and techniques. Reiki is also a powerful tool for those already in caregiving roles—nurses, parents, teachers, yoga instructors, and more.

We’ll approach Reiki as a system comprised of five elements:
• Reiki Precepts
• Reiki Meditations and Techniques
• Hands-on Healing
• Reiki Symbols and Mantras (introduced in Reiki II)
• Reiju and Attunements

You’ll also learn techniques to support both personal and professional practice, including:
• Meditation practices

• How to sense earth, heart, and heaven energy (ki) as you connect with the hara, the body’s personal energy center

• Hands-on treatment for yourself

• How to treat others

Day One:

10:00am- 3:00pm
• Introduction to the system of Reiki
• History and cultural context
• Breathing and meditation techniques
• Self practice

Day Two:

10:00am- 3:00pm
• Partner practice
• Reiki as a professional practice: ethics & business
• Group Q&A and guidance for a 21-day practice

What You’ll Receive
  • Reiki I Manual
  • 4 attunements supporting your ability to channel ki (energy)
  • Certificate of completion

Reiki I is just the beginning of your Reiki journey. You will be invited to cultivate a consistent self-practice that can, over time, extend to supporting others. In addition to this day long training, you are strongly encouraged to join two (or more) to integrate your new practice. These circles are led by Sasha Sigel and Eloisa DeLeon and focus on partner practice.

To promote deeper learning, reflection, and hands-on partner work, this training will be capped at six participants.

About Sasha (she/her)

I was first introduced to Reiki in 2017 and trained in Reiki I & II with my longtime practitioner, Marisa Sullivan. In 2025, I completed Reiki III (Master Practitioner and Teacher) training with Eloisa De Leon. From my earliest experiences, I was struck by the profound shifts Reiki can bring, and today I share this practice with artists, musicians, queer and trans folks, and people living with chronic pain or disability.

My work is also grounded in yoga, trauma-informed practices, and reproductive care. As a queer person living with endometriosis, I’m passionate about using embodied practices to support pelvic health, abortion, miscarriage, and healing through queer community. I teach with respect for the South Asian and Japanese lineages of these traditions.

Relevant Trainings:

  • Reiki III (Master Practitioner and Teacher), Eloisa De Leon (2025)
