Regen360: An Operating System for a Regenerative Earth (Berkeley)
About this Event
Join USGBC co-founder David Gottfried for a book signing of his new book coming out this October, , and a fireside chat with USGBC's Managing Director Rhiannon Jacobson on David's new book, Regen360, regenerative thinking & what comes next.
Nearly 35 years after helping launch the modern green building movement, David Gottfried, co-founder of the U.S. Green Building Council and founder of the World Green Building Council, returns to the David Brower Center for a conversation about what comes next.
The setting carries special significance. Environmental leader David Brower was one of Gottfried’s mentors, and Gottfried later wrote the green building guidelines for the center that carries Brower’s name and helped select its developer. Now, he returns to the LEED Platinum building with a new book—and a harder question.
In , Gottfried examines why, despite decades of progress in green building, the larger systems driving extraction, consumption, and short-term thinking remain difficult to change. He introduces RegenOS, a framework of 15 “Earth Codes” organized around one central question: Does this increase Health on Planet Earth, or degrade it?
"We built something together that mattered. This book is David asking, with honesty and courage, whether it was enough — and what comes next. From where I sit, that's exactly the right question."
— Rick Fedrizzi, Founding Chairman and past CEO, U.S. Green Building Council, from the Foreword
Gottfried will be joined in conversation by Rhiannon Jacobson, Managing Director of U.S. Market Transformation and Development at USGBC, for an intimate fireside chat reflecting on the evolution of green building, the lessons of the movement to date, and how regenerative thinking could shape the next chapter.
The evening will conclude with a reception and book signing, giving attendees an opportunity to continue the conversation and connect with fellow sustainability leaders.
