Reducing Residential Lead Paint Hazards in Oakland: 2/28 Community Event

About this Event
The City is asking for community reaction to a draft program design that prioritizes the most at-risk residents and addresses the highest number of units with funding from a lead-based paint legal settlement it has received. While the amount of the settlement will fall far short of covering the extensive need in Oakland, this is the chance to help launch a program that will perform so well that it attracts the additional resources needed to continue beyond this first phase.

EQUITABLE LEAD HAZARD ABATEMENT PROGRAM (ELHAP)
Please come to learn about the elements of the draft program and to share your thinking about what might be missing or need adjustment; barriers that need to be addressed for vulnerable tenants to be able to participate, how the approach might be improved in general, while keeping cost in check to maximize the number of residents served with the available dollars.
Residents who are low-income, experiencing housing insecurity and who have limited housing options are encouraged to attend; advice you can share from your lived experience will be extremely valuable to this effort.
