About this Event
Dive into the spicy world of Red Zinfandel, a grape that has come to embody the spirit, history, and flavor profile of American winemaking. This class is designed for enthusiasts at every level—from curious newcomers to devoted wine connoisseurs—who wish to explore the essence of this remarkable varietal. Together we will uncover the unique characteristics of Red Zinfandel and its place at the heart of American viticulture.
We will begin by journeying through the tangled vines of Zinfandel’s past. From its mysterious beginnings—often debated and romanticized—to its arrival in California during the Gold Rush era. From the powerful, fruit-driven Zinfandels of Lodi, the elegant, the spicy wines of Dry Creek Valley, to the complex, structured offerings from Napa Valley you will learn how this grape thrived to become a symbol of resilience and innovation.
This class will be hosted by wine importer Patrick Allen, a thirty-year wine industry veteran who has lived and worked in France. A selection of light hors d’oeuvres will be provided to compliment the tasting. So, please join us for this unique opportunity to take a deep dive into the world of Red Zinfandel.
