Help us celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with a Flower Planter Contest! 🌼
Create a planter you’re proud of and enter it for a chance to be displayed around the fairgrounds. Whether you’re looking for an excuse to plant a few extra flowers or already have a beautiful container garden on your deck, we’d love to see your creativity in bloom! 🌸🌿
REGISTRATION: Pots can be dropped off Tuesday July 28, 5pm - 8pm at the Becker County Fairgrounds - Open Class Exhibit Building. Planters will be numbered so the entrant is anonymous to the judges.
PICK UP: Sunday August 2, 2026 between 7:30- 11:00am
PRIZES:
• 1st Place: $100 + Commemorative gift
• 2nd Place: $75 + Commemorative gift
• 3rd Place: $50 + Commemorative gift
Winners will be announced Thursday at 1:30pm
GUIDELINES:
•One planter per entrant.
•Delivery/Removal: Participants are responsible for delivering the planter to the venue and removing it. Pick up time: on Sunday August 2, 2026 (7:30am - 11:00am).
•Plant Material: All plants must be healthy, well-groomed, and free of insects and diseases.
•No Artificial Materials: Only live, fresh plant material is allowed in the planter. Embellishments are welcome on the exterior surface of the planter.
•Container and Size: Containers must be appropriate, clean, and a minimum of a 12” Diameter pot, or 12” x 12” if not using a round pot.
•Identification: Plants should be identified by their common name
JUDGING CRITERIA:
•Design & Creativity: Judges look for original design (including container selection and use of a theme), proper balance, and a strong focal point.
•Cultural Perfection: Plants should be healthy, with proper, vibrant coloring.
