About this Event
Dr. Ann Buckley is a musicologist and Research Associate with the Trinity Medieval History Research Centre. She lectures in Medieval History, and Medieval Language, Literature, and Culture. She will be speaking on the topic of Medieval Irish music and liturgy as it relates to the 14th Century Red Book of Ossory, now on display in St. Canice’s Cathedral for the first time ever. The Red Book includes 60 poems/hymns penned by Bishop Richard Ledrede, who included instructions that his clergy were to sing these hymns instead of “vile, secular” songs from the taverns.
After hours admission to the Red Book of Ossory exhibition included.
Tea/coffee available from 6pm
