Reclaiming Prayer in a Distracted World—The Carmelite Path
About this Event
Rooted in the Carmelite tradition, this OCDS Day of Recollection offers practical ways to find peace, deepen interior prayer, and live as a family of prayer in a culture of distraction. Together, we will reflect on how family, work, culture, and daily responsibilities can become places of encounter with God and paths to holiness in a busy world.

Hosted by the Saints Louis and Zélie Martin Group, Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS) of Orange County — families, singles, and professionals living out a lay Carmelite vocation of deep interior prayer while fully engaged in the world.
The day includes conferences led by Sr. Rosario Therese, O.C.D and Fr. Philip of Our Lady of Guadalupe, O.C.D., on the topics of "Prayer, Family and Holiness in a Busy World – Lessons from Sts. Louis and Zelie Martin" and “What Carmelite Spirituality Offers to the Modern World.”
The program also features a “Navigating Secular Life” panel led by T.K. Coleman with lay Carmelite members sharing how they remain grounded in prayer amid daily responsibilities, overstimulation, and competing demands.
The day will include Eucharistic Adoration, a decade-at-a-time guided Rosary Prayer, and Enrollment in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel—a traditional Carmelite devotion inviting participants to entrust themselves to Our Lady’s care and live more deeply in prayer, conversion, and fidelity to Christ. Enrolling participants will receive a gifted scapular. There will also be an opportunity to connect with community over lunch.

Enrollment of the Brown Scapular Confraternity & Final Blessing @Church
Info: Those who wish to be enrolled will be gifted a scapular. Through enrollment by a priest, the blessed scapular becomes a sign of devotion for baptized Catholics to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, her maternal protection, and a commitment to grow in holiness. Our Lady promised St. Simon Stock her special intercession for those who faithfully wear it.
