Join us for RBC's February's event as we explore sobriety through Anna Donaghey's book, "What Are You Thirsty For?"
About this Event

Welcome to the RBC Vancouver event, where we'll be diving into the theme of Sober, through Anna Donaghey's "".

More about "What Are You Thirsty For?"

Anna Donaghey, former advertising exec turned alcohol mindset coach, stopped drinking six years ago when she realised that it was no longer enhancing her life - it was running it. In her book, she invites you to take a clear-eyed look at your relationship with alcohol - not because you have to change, but because you deserve more.

Blending personal experience, coaching insights and stories from her acclaimed podcast The Big Drink Rethink, Anna offers warm, thought-provoking perspectives to help turn alcohol from a habit or default into a conscious, empowered choice.

Why we chose it: “An optimistic, non-judgmental guide to asking the right questions, and finding the right answers." - Clare Pooley, author of The Sober Diaries

Inspired by our monthly non-fiction reads, our mix of part cocktail party, part creative classroom is a recipe that builds your reading habit while connecting with like minded people.

Your hosts for the evening

Paige Eager

Paige joined Rebel Book Club in London in July 2018. She loves how RBC encourages her to explore new subjects and perspectives she might not have discovered otherwise.

After moving across the pond and missing the events and connections she made with fellow RBC'ers, she wanted to recreate that experience in vibrant Vancouver.

Top RBC Reads:

  • Bad Blood, by John Carreyrou
  • Life 3.0, by Max Tegmark
  • In Extremis: The Life of War Correspondent Marie Colvin, by Lindsey Hilsum

Amirali Sharifian

Amirali is a programming language designer for AI computers. Having made Vancouver his home, he found himself missing a like-minded community—one that thrives on curiosity, deep conversations, and a shared passion for learning. Rebel Book Club offers just that, and Amirali is excited to help grow a space where diverse perspectives come together to challenge ideas and expand horizons.

Amirali's nonfiction recommendations:

  • The User Illusion: Cutting Consciousness Down to Size, by "Tor Nørretranders"
  • Factfulness, by Hans Rosling
