Real Food and Nutrition on Marina Green
About this Event
Hey food lovers,
I spend an unreasonable amount of time tracking down pastured eggs, testing sourdough fermentations, and debating whether raw milk or homemade bone broth makes a bigger difference in how I feel. I wanted an afternoon on the grass where we can swap notes on real nourishment with people who genuinely care about what they put into their bodies, so I am putting this together.
There is something wonderful about sitting out on the Marina Green lawn with the bay glittering in front of us, warm afternoon sunshine, and fresh salt air, getting into the specifics of what we eat. Whether you are dialed into macro counts, passionate about regenerative agriculture and nose-to-tail cooking, thriving on high-fat keto, plant-forward, or simply trying to cut through supermarket marketing and cook wholesome dinners from scratch, your perspective belongs here. No dietary dogmatism, no food shaming, and zero lectures—just an open, curious group of people who love feeling vibrant.
I want to hear what changes transformed your digestion, the pantry staples you refuse to compromise on, your favorite weekend farmers market finds, and the nutritional trends you tried and happily ditched. Finding people who genuinely want to trade fermentation tips, compare sourcing notes, or share their favorite cast-iron recipes is rare, and this afternoon is built specifically for that.
How it works:
We will start on the grass at Marina Green. For the first part of the afternoon, the Gist IRL app matches you up for brief, one-on-one chats. Knowing exactly who you are sitting with next removes all the hesitation, so we can jump straight into the good stuff: how you prep your meals, what you eat before a long day, and what ingredients you are loving right now.
Then we head over for food:
Once our rounds wrap up, you will link up with 4 to 6 people you enjoyed talking to and stroll over to Chestnut Street together to grab a bite. Everything is just a short walk away. You can grab a hearty grain bowl, a fresh-pressed tonic, or an espresso while continuing the discussion around a table with your group.
The Plan:
- 1:00 PM: Check-in. Follow the link to set up your quick profile on your phone. Bring a blanket or towel to sit on if you can - we'll have a few extras. - 1:05 - 2:25 PM: One-on-one rounds. The app pairs you for short, focused chats about what you cook, how you eat, gut health, and your current nutrition experiments. - 2:25 PM+: Form groups of 4 to 6 with the people you clicked with, pick a spot on Chestnut, and walk over together - your group leaves together today.
Heading straight to a table together means the ideas you just brainstormed turn into a shared meal in real time. You might walk away with a local CSA subscription recommendation, a new cooking buddy, or just three fantastic dinner ideas to test this week.
Afterwards, you can easily keep in touch with everyone through the app without needing to trade phone numbers.
One sensible reminder: we are here to swap personal experiences and kitchen wins, not give out clinical nutrition therapy. What works wonders for one person might not suit someone else, so stay curious, listen to your own body, and consult a professional for medical questions.
