Join us for the “NANA Arts” Workshop Series at Rohi's Liberation Station, where young imaginations blossom into confident creators! This hands-on afterschool program, led by HS Changemaker Intern Aris, provides a nurturing space for children to explore their artistic potential, develop literacy skills, and embrace their unique identities through art and storytelling.

• Guided workshops to develop technical artistic skills: drawing, painting, photography, and design.
• Opportunities to craft a children’s book, complete with a personalized artist statement and portfolio.

🌱 Why “NANA Arts”? 🌱
Inspired by Aris’s own nana, this program celebrates the boundless possibilities of art and honors the legacy of those who encourage creativity in our lives. “Nana Arts” is about laying the groundwork for young minds to envision new possibilities and confidently pursue their dreams, artistic or otherwise.

🌈 This workshop is perfect for children eager to explore their creative side, learn new skills, and connect with a vibrant community of young artists.

About the Taniyah Aris:

Taniyah Aris' piece, Noir Galore, was selected to be part of the "Dress Codes: Photographing cultures and identities through fashion," exhibition.

“Noir Galore” is all about the things that have been labeled as ‘ghetto,’ or ‘unconventional’ by society," she said. "So, the afros, the gold chains and the nails.”

The exhibition was previously on display in the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach.

Aris is a rising senior at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts.

The Palm Beach Gardens native said she finds inspiration all around her.

“My family, my friends, the music I listen to; Sade, A Tribe Called Quest, Amy Winehouse," Aris said. "I love music and I also love life in a sense that I am meshing it all together. I feel like when I’m creating I am more than one thing.”

More than 150 Palm Beach County students submitted their work, but Aris won first place in the competition; earning her a $4,000 scholarship.

“Opening night when I walked in, I didn’t know what to expect; it was insane," she said.

Aris said winning was humbling and boosted her confidence.

She hopes to have exhibitions across the world someday and eventually become a collector who helps young artists.

Program Description:

A free monthly program that offers the community a diverse range of activities including cooking, gardening, dance, STEAM, writing, art and music, all designed to enrich their literacy learning experience. This program encourages children to explore their passions, facilitate ongoing self-discovery, while developing leadership skills and fostering a sense of community.

Rohi’s Liberation Station 501c3, a non-profit initiative by Rohi's Readery, honors historically marginalized communities through a multigenerational literacy learning approach.

Programming is FREE (paid for by Rohi's Liberation Station) unless otherwise stated on the event site. Donations are appreciated and will go back into Educational Programming and Services.
