Event description
After the event, join us for a screening of Kit Hung's at The Garden Cinema.
Living in Queer Cancer World: Our Stories is a creative storytelling project that amplifies the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ people living with and beyond cancer, making space for visibility, connection, and more inclusive ways of understanding care, illness, and survival.
This special event invites audiences into the world of Living in Queer Cancer World: Our Stories, a project that centres the voices, creativity, and lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ people living with and beyond cancer. Project Director Professor Lisa Blackman and Project Manager Dr Kit Hung will be joined by some of the project participants, including queer activists living with cancer, to share reflections on healing, storytelling , and the building of a resilient community. Together, the conversation will explore how re-minding can become a vital act of care: recalling what has been silenced, reconnecting body and memory, and reimagining how we live through illness in community with others. In the spirit of Re:Mind, this event opens a space not only to witness queer cancer journeys, but also to think about healing as a collective, creative, and deeply relational process.
