Experience the history, charm, and hospitality of the historic Rasey House. Tour one of Beloit's most treasured landmarks and discover the remarkable story of this rare cobblestone home and its connection to the founders of Beloit and early Beloit College. Lovingly owned, preserved, and maintained by the Beloit Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Rasey House offers visitors a unique glimpse into the community's rich architectural and cultural heritage.
Beloit's first citizens were determined to build a college in the fledgling city, but were short of funds to finish the first building So, they rallied together to build a home they could sell for a profit to help pay to complete it. They donated funds, labor and materials to build it. The limestone came from the Gage Brothers quarry which is now Krueger Swimming Pool. The cobblestones came from the bed of Turtle Creek, collected by Beloit College students. The sand used in the burnt lime mortar came from South Beloit.
