Dear everyone,In 11 months, we are approaching the deadline for implementing the Platform Workers Directive.
We, the Madbudenes Organisation, stand at a crossroads: the transposition of this directive needs to happen much faster in order to protect courier jobs.
On the 28th, our Employment Minister Kaare Dybvad will hold a public reception to announce his recent book. We are using this day to rally for better working conditions for all platform workers.
The Danish government has repeatedly committed to this process and had many opportunities to accelerate it, yet we hear only lengthy reassurances that the drafting is “underway.”
This directive is crucial for the survival of an organized sector. Without clear implementation, our numbers will continue to diminish, and competition between platform companies—with or without collective agreements—puts us at the very end.
We are calling for this rally to protest the slow implementation and to hold the Danish government accountable for ensuring that platform workers have a voice at the table.
We have delivered during countless distressful situations, from the pandemic up to now.
Our demands:
Rapid implementation of the Platform Workers Directive
Urgent proposals to limit subcontracting and tackle gangmaster practices, promoting direct employment in the sector. This should include prohibiting the contracting out of core business activities and introducing a system of joint and several liability.
National governments must promote sectoral collective bargaining in the platform sector
You cannot participate in the rally, if you are on shift. Work stoppages are not allowed.
On behalf of the board of Madbudenes Organisation
