Join Rainbow Wellington for a very special opportunity to step inside one of Wellington’s most significant and historic buildings — Government House.
We’re delighted to invite our rainbow community and friends to join us for a guided tour of Government House, the official residence of the Governor-General of New Zealand.
The tour will take us behind the scenes to discover the history, architecture and stories of this remarkable building, including its role in New Zealand’s civic and constitutional life. You’ll have the opportunity to explore some of the beautiful rooms and spaces used for official occasions and learn more about the people and events connected to Government House.
For Rainbow Wellington, this is also an opportunity to reflect on how far Aotearoa has come in creating a more inclusive New Zealand, and to celebrate the contribution and place of rainbow communities in our national story.
Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, our country’s civic institutions, or simply curious to see inside Government House, this is a unique opportunity to experience a place that isn’t normally open for everyday visits.
