Rain Garden Volunteer Day in South El Monte
About this Event
Together we’ll be transforming a residential garden into a water-saving, habitat-rich ecosystem — and you’ll learn practical skills you can use at home.
What you’ll learn: Our team will walk you through the sheet mulching process — an eco-friendly technique that removes lawns while improving soil health. You’ll see how it works and learn tips for handling different types of grass. You’ll also see how we shape the ground to create swales and capture precious rain, allowing the garden to thrive with minimal watering.
Feel free to come for all or just part of the event!
Help Our Gardens Grow: We need plain brown cardboard for our rain garden sites. If you have extra, feel free to bring it to the event! All cardboard sizes will work, but the larger the better. The cardboard will help us suppress weeds and build healthy soil naturally.
