Abbey Arts presents: Rae Isla "New Frontier" Album Release w/ Luke Francis
About this Event

RAE ISLA: raeisla.com

"Rae Isla is an independent singer-songwriter from Bainbridge Island, WA, now living between Seattle and Los Angeles. Classically trained in cello, then studying voice as well as business at Berklee College of Music, Rae started her career in New York City, collaborating on early releases with producers Gianluca Buccellati (Lana Del Rey, Arlo Parks) and Garrett Eaton (Holly Miranda). She went on to co-produce and release her first EP and album while becoming a staple in NYC’s indie live music scene. Rae’s music has been featured in Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, and more. Her debut album “Another Life” was the 27th most added record in the world on NACC Charts.
In addition to traditional song releases, Rae is one of a handful of musicians pioneering the music web3 space via Blockchain and Web3 technology. She is one of the highest grossing independent artists in the space, and has given talks at SXSW, The European Union, and conferences around the world about her journey.

2024 marks a transformative year for Rae, highlighted by a string of new releases, national tour dates, and a recording of "Ezra," the title track for the upcoming Bleecker Street release starring Robert DeNiro, Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, and more. Her eagerly anticipated second album, New Frontier, is set to release on July 19, led by the popular single “Miles and Miles.” This new music signifies a pivotal change in Rae Isla’s musical direction, as she delves deep into her roots, adopting an Americana sound that blends traditional elements with her unique contemporary flair. Rae can be seen traveling across North America this year, performing with social media gems Sammy Arriaga, Hans Williams, Brooke Butler, and headline dates with her Rock Solid Band." -Artist Bio

LUKE FRANCIS: lukefrancismusic.com

"Seattle-based singer-songwriter, Luke Francis, navigates the emotional landscape with the finesse of a seasoned storyteller. Born and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco, Francis relocated to Washington at 19 years old and was quickly enchanted by the lush sounds and rich heritage of Pacific Northwest indie folk. In 2019 an invitation to play the Nowhere Else Festival in Cincinnati, OH landed him onstage with Americana greats such as John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and Allison Russell. Shortly thereafter Francis joined Americana band Fretland, and spent the following years playing and recording with them, living nomadically wherever allowed him to continue honing his songwriting craft – a tent on the Skykomish river, an 1800s log cabin, the spare bedrooms of benevolent lawyers. When Fretland’s touring schedule ground to a halt with the onset of the pandemic, the hiatus provided a silver lining, prompting Francis to begin work on the songs which would comprise a soul-searching solo project." -Artist Bio
