Radical Fashion Learning Circle
The Radical Fashion Learning Circle is a monthly discussion group for folks who want to rethink and reimagine fashion!
About this Event
What is the Radical Fashion Learning Circle?
DIY Fashion Studies!
The Radical Fashion Learning Circle is a monthly discussion group for people who want to rethink and reimagine fashion.
The idea behind the Learning Circle is that in order to address the many harms created by the dominant Fashion Systems, we need to imagine possible alternatives, so we can work to bring these into being!
The Learning Circle is less about practical making skills, and more about building knowledge and understanding, for change.
What To Expect
The Radical Fashion Learning Circle will meet once each month to discuss a different topic. Each month you will be invited to read a short article related to the topic we will be discussing, which you can read ahead of time, or read with a cup of tea during the beginning part of the session.
The session may involve taking part in an activity designed to provoke discussion on the topic, or we may choose to focus on discussing the article we have read.
For each monthly topic, We Wear The Trousers will put together a list of additional resources that you might like to engage with, including podcasts, articles, youtube videos, documentaries, social media content, etc. You can engage with as many or as few of these resources as you wish.
The Learning Circle will also be a space for people to share the knowledge and wisdom we have gained through lived experience. You are also welcome to join and simply listen to others and learn.
How Much Does it Cost?
Thanks to some generous funding from the Norwich Freemen, in 2026 we are able to run the Radical Fashion Learning Circle on a 'gift' or 'donate-what-you-can' basis.
Sometimes people want to give financially but find it tricky to know how much to give, so we offer some suggested donations depending on your level of financial privilege. We suggest:
£5- for waged adults
£3- for low-income adults / students
Between £1-£3 if £3 would create financial hardship.
FREE for under-16s, and carers/support workers.
If making a donation is not possible without creating financial hardship, we would love you to join us as our gift to you.
Where to come:
The Radical Fashion Learning Circle takes place at 'The Smithy', which is Unit 5, St Saviours Yard, St Saviours Ln, Norwich NR3 1GQ.
You'll find us directly opposite the car barriers on St Saviours Lane. If you get stuck, there's a site map on the toilet block- which is also very near us!
Please be aware that there is no parking available at the site, however car drop-off is possible if required for access reasons- please drop me an email or message so we can organise this.
If you have any potential challenges related to parking and access, we are sorry that the site does not make provision for this, but please do get in touch to discuss possible solutions/workarounds. Get in touch via email: [email protected]
The Wastesmiths Hounds:
We have two dogs (a lurcher and a greyhound) who usually hang out at The Smithy with us. They tend to quite happily sleep on their beds quietly, after saying hello (although I’m sure they will happily receive your attention during the evening, if that's something you would enjoy offering!).
Please get in touch as soon as possible if you would like to join us, but the presence of the Wastesmiths dogs would mean you are unable to participate, i.e. due to a dog allergy, having a service animal, or similar. We will do our best to accommodate you, however we hope you understand that this may not always be possible. Please get in touch to discuss at [email protected]
