About this Event
The Start Up Series is a monthly business breakfast at The Still Room, Norwich, for people running their own businesses, those just starting out, and anyone keen to learn what it takes. Each session brings people at different stages of their business journey into honest, practical conversation - not networking, but proper exchange, where things get worked out in the open.
The Still Room is a studio: a space where the quality of the conditions shapes the quality of what emerges. The Business Studio runs on a simple belief - that the right conditions for clear thinking and genuine development change what becomes possible - just as a creative studio does for actors and artists. The Start Up Series is that belief in practice.
For those starting out or thinking about it, each session offers direct access to practitioners who speak honestly about what they have learned: the decisions that mattered, the mistakes worth avoiding, and the questions worth asking early. Hear their stories directly, then ask whatever you need to ask. No question is too small, too basic or too specific. Numbers are kept small, and the relaxed format allows for real exchange.
For experienced business owners and professionals, it is a chance to mentor, to reflect, and to share what actually matters with people who need to hear it. Those who take part as practitioners regularly find it as valuable as those they are there to support.
Your ticket includes a continental breakfast and access to The Still Room until 2pm - so the morning does not end when the session does. Stay on to put what you have heard into practice, continue a conversation, or simply work in the space while the thinking is still fresh.

The Series
9 July - Marketing Without the Guesswork: simple, actionable marketing that works for small businesses and sole traders. 13 August - Showing Up Online: LinkedIn, Google Business and social media for your sales process. 10 September - The Details: legal, insurance and accounting essentials for small business owners. 8 October - Growth: funding, finance and team planning for the future. 12 November - Selling Yourself and Your Service: confidence, communication and speaking about your work with clarity. 10 December - Moving Forward: reflection, reassurance and clarity to end the year well.
When: Second Thursday of each month, July to December 2026
Time: 8.30 to 10.30am (speakers begin at 9.00am), with access to the space until 2pm
Where: The Still Room, 9D First Floor, Keswick Hall, Norwich NR4 6TJ - on the edge of Norwich, ten minutes from the city centre with free parking on site
