Purpose: To raise awareness about opioid overdoses, honor those affected, and support community education on prevention and recovery resources.

Join us for a meaningful morning at Walnut Creek Park in Indian Land, SC, for the Race to Recovery Trail Run. This family-friendly event features a scenic trail run through the Carolina Thread Trail or walk through the paved paths of Walnut Creek Park, suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Whether you're a seasoned runner or prefer a leisurely stroll, come together with our community to shine a light on the opioid crisis and promote hope, healing, and awareness.
Distance: 5.5K run through Carolina Thread Trail and Walnut Creek Parkway
Check-In: 7:00 AM at the Walnut Creek Park Pavilion
Start Time: 8:00 AM
Activities: Resource booths from local organizations, Soap Bubble Circus, Brewed for You Coffee Truck, and live broadcast from WRHI Radio,
Why We’re Stepping Up
The opioid epidemic affects countless lives in our community and beyond. This event aims to:
Educate participants about opioid overdose prevention and access to resources like Narcan.
Foster community support for individuals and families impacted by addiction.
Raise funds for Corey’s Love to aid in facilitating recovery and prevention services.
Registration and Participation
Online Registration: Available until August 30th, at Race Roster
On-Site Registration: Available on event day
What’s Included: Event T-shirt, bib with timing chip (t-shirts are not guaranteed for registrants after 8/15/25)
Teams Welcome: Form a team with friends, family, or coworkers to walk or run in solidarity.
Sleep-in Support: Registration available to those who would like to participate without running.

Scenic Course: Enjoy the natural beauty of the Carolina Thread Trail or Walnut Creek Park’s well-maintained trails.
Community Impact: Hear from local recovery advocates and learn about resources available in Indian Land and Lancaster County.
Family-Friendly: Soap Bubble Circus performance, access to playgrounds
Refreshments: Complimentary water and snacks
Safety and Accessibility:
The Carolina Thread Trail is mostly flat with some gentle inclines, but are not suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, or individuals with ambulation deficits. Walnut Creek Park offers accessible paved trails for those not participating in competitive racing.
First aid and water stations will be available along the course.
Parking is free and ample at Walnut Creek Park.
EMS and law enforcement will be present to serve in emergencies and facilitate safe traffic patterns
How You Can Help
Participate: Register to run or walk and invite others to join. Those not participating in the race are welcome to attend, but do not need to register.
Share: Share social media posts and marketing materials to the community to raise awareness of the event.
Volunteer: Help with event setup, registration, or water stations. Email ashlie@cslancaster to set up a resource booth.
Donate: Contributions support Corey’s Love. Sponsor logos will be featured on all event materials and publicized on WRHI. Donate at Race Roster .
