The Great Jelly Roll Race Class

Before the holiday season gets into full swing, come spend a fun, relaxed day sewing with us at the Sewcial Studio!
We’re hosting The Great Jelly Roll Race—a fast, fun and beginner-friendly way to turn one Jelly Roll into an entire quilt top.
The Jelly Roll Race, also known as the 1600 Quilt, starts with approximately 1,600 inches of 2½” fabric strips. We’ll join the strips into one VERY long strip, and then the fun begins!
Fold. Sew. Cut. Repeat.
With every round, your 1,600-inch strip gets shorter and wider until it transforms into an approximately 50” × 64” quilt top.
And here’s the crazy part: fast sewists can finish the entire quilt top in as little as ONE HOUR! 🏁
We’ll have the Sewcial Studio available for up to four hours of sewing, though, so this isn’t about who finishes first. Sew at your own pace, learn something new, visit with other sewists and enjoy a little creative time before the holiday craziness begins.
🧵 BEGINNER FRIENDLY
This is a great project for newer quilters—no complicated blocks, no points to match and very little cutting. You should be comfortable operating your own sewing machine, but you don’t need to be an experienced quilter.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
• One Jelly Roll containing 40 strips of 2½” × approximately 40–42” width-of-fabric quilting cotton
• Sewing machine in good working order, including power cord and foot pedal
• Coordinating thread
• 4–5 prewound bobbins — you’ll be doing a LOT of sewing!
• Scissors or thread snips
• Seam ripper
• Basic sewing supplies

Need one? Come choose your favorite from Heartland Quilt Supply Co. before class. Our jelly rolls cost around $52 each.
Jelly Roll is not included in the $40 class fee.
