Quick & Easy Preserving, presented by Kate McCarty
Interested in preserving all those great garden vegetables but short on time or energy? This 1-hour demonstration from UMaine Extension food preservation staff and volunteers will teach you several quick and easy preserving methods for the late summer bounty. We will discuss ways to freeze, dehydrate, pickle, and save your harvest, even when you're short on time. Kate McCarty has been the Food Systems Professional at UMaine Extension since 2009, after serving in the AmeriCorps VISTA program. She has completed the Master Food Preserver program, an intensive, hands-on training in all aspects of home food preservation. Kate manages the volunteer efforts of the 60+ Master Food Preserver volunteers statewide and teaches food preservation programs in 7 Maine counties.
