About this Event
Our conversations around the presence of LGBTQ+ people within the archaeological record has always been lacking. Prejudice, indifference and taboo have shaped the way we have approached the subject and clouded our interpretations of the past. Queer and feminist archaeologies have offered new perspectives on identifying and understanding the presence of LGBTQ+ people within the archaeological record and provided new insight into social systems, identity and norms within past societies.
In this talk, we will discuss some of the key issues for understanding LGBTQ+ people in the past, as well as looking at some of the significant archaeological finds and historic data that help to gleam more about the lives of these people.
This talk will be delivered by the RDA's Archaeologist, Jordan Perris.
