This free class offers a space for the Queer + Trans community to have a damn moment of peace, maintain our resilience, & expand our inner spaciousness through mindful movement, meditation, & community love. As we navigate a political and social culture that attacks our very existence, many of us are stuck in chronic fear, vigilance, and exhaustion. This wreaks havoc on our bodies. It can tighten us up, close us off, and isolate us in its grips. This class is about consciously interrupting that cycle. Together, we shift from a state of survival towards the intention of thriving, where we can access bravery, creativity, and joy.
This is not “love and light” individualistic self-care. This is resistance through regulation. Community care as a practice in resilience. Rebellion through joy. Freedom in taking up our space, in our bodies, just as we are.
Together, we create space to build resilience, spaciousness, and greater calm so we can show up with compassion, love, and power for ourselves and our community.
Each class includes:
• A short introduction to a mindfulness concept
• Mindful movement/dance
• Sitting/laying meditation
• Community closing circle
We meet the 1st, 3rd, & 4th Thursdays of the month.
This group welcomes queer + trans participants of all abilities, bodies, backgrounds, and experience. The studio is up one flight of stairs.
