A free queer body photo-shoot event empowered by queer photographers to celebrate our sexuality and gender expressions
About this Event

Queer bodies are often looked at in harsh ways with judging eyes: Some may look and check whether you pass. Some may look and fantasize about your disabilities, The market looks at the price of your usefulness. The family looks and scans for what still needs correcting. Under those looks a queer body learns to shrink, to quiet down, to become easier to be categorized, or to tense up, to be alert, and to be hyper defensive.

But, our queer bodies are sacred and holy.

Holiness has never lived in the abstract. It arrives as skin, hunger, sweat, breath, the weight of a hand on a shoulder. It shows up in a body or it does not show up at all.

This September, Rainbow Table is picking up cameras to celebrate the holiness of queer bodies.

We will spend two evenings photographing during our gathering. Bring the body you actually have. The binder, the scars, the hair you are growing out, the softness you were told to apologize for. Come as queer as you are.

You decide your pose, your clothes, your framing, how much skin, and what happens to the image afterward. Consent carries through the whole process, and any photo can disappear at your word.

We will cook and eat as the photoshoot takes place, to feed our bodies as we celebrate them.

If there are specific photos you would love to be seen by more pople, select them out and we will make beautiful art collectivly with them.

All queer bodies welcome. Come to get your photo taken, come to be seen and celebrated.
