About this Event
Queer & Well is a free monthly SF LGBT Center program offering where LGBTQ+ folks can explore different forms of care rooted in connection.
Queer & Well is thrilled to present a free monthly yoga series from the amazing Ki Charles (they/she). Open to all levels, beginners welcome!
Our intention is to create the space to explore breath, movement, and connection - uniting us in queer community. The SANCTUARY Series is focused on reclaiming and using the resources from our home (mother nature, the place we reside, & our being) to help us stay centered in times of deep distress that require resilience.
Spring: Grounding (March - May)
March: Physically- what does it mean to ground physically
April: Mentally - what does it mean to ground mentally
May: Emotionally - what does it mean to ground emotionally
The theme stemming from the idea that as a human being, no matter what you look like, where you come from or what your sexual orientation is you have a home here on earth and in SF.Each class will start with a land acknowledgment and an acknowledgment of the times we are in.
Each class will end with a “prayer” and offer to take this practice off of the mat, and let the merits of this practice go to those in the world who need it.It would be themed with the cycles of nature and here is the outline of what I’m thinking for Spring. Each season will have a theme and throughout the month will dive deeper into it.
Ki will be holding space for us on the last Monday of each month from 6:00pm to 7.30pm. This is a monthly series, please feel free to join one or ALL offerings!
Ki the yogi:
Ki is an African American, Mexican, Indigenous Yogi, who is expanding the inclusivity of yoga spaces for BIPOC, Queer people. They take inspiration from their ancestral roots to welcome all to practice with them through pairing culturally diverse musical flows with their own learnings. They facilitate connection and free expression with the hope that yoga can be for every body. The SF LGBT Center was the first space to welcome Ki into its community and through yoga they hope to continue to cultivate that vision of unyielding acceptance, faith, and love for one another.
